Course Design Institute 2022

The CTL Course Design Institute (CDI) is a multi-day workshop that provides Stanford faculty and lecturers with a collaborative environment in which to design a new course—or modify an existing course—optimized for student inclusion, learning, and engagement.

CDI will run September 7 to September 9, 2022. Due to limited spaces, admission is by application only by 5 p.m. PDT on Monday, August 8, 2022.

MATLAB

Main content start

MATLAB is a technical computing environment used to analyze and visualize data, develop algorithms, and create models and applications. Many different tools and products within the MATLAB environment are used extensively in engineering, and in scientific and academic research.

All Stanford students, faculty, and staff have free access to over 100 MATLAB and Simulink-based products.

What can MATLAB do?

MATLAB can be used for a wide variety of purposes, including:

  • Design and tune deep learning and machine learning algorithms
  • Application development, including building a graphical user interface
  • Develop embedded systems and control systems
  • Digital signal processing
  • Computational biology and computational finance

The MATLAB campus license includes:

  • MATLAB Parallel Server: perform MATLAB and Simulink computations on clusters and clouds
  • MATLAB Grader: create auto-graded coding assignments integrated with Canvas
  • MATLAB Online: run MATLAB in a web browser
  • MATLAB Drive: share and organize files with collaborators and students
  • MATLAB Academy: a full library of online training

What are some benefits?

You can help your students gain proficiency with MATLAB, which is a valuable skill for data analysis in many industries.

Our campus license also includes MATLAB tools that can help you:

  • Engage students by creating your own interactive live scripts that combine rich text, equations, graphics, and code in an executable notebook.
  • Reduce time spent manually grading coding assignments with auto-graded assignments using MATLAB Grader.
  • Help students master MATLAB coding by incorporating pre-made MATLAB tutorials into your instruction.

How can you access MATLAB?
