Are you working on coding projects in teams but unsure how to share files efficiently? Did your advisor send you a Git repository, and you're not sure what to do next? This Engineering Studio is here to help!

Git is the most used version control system that allows for effective collaboration. This tool tracks the changes you make to files and lets you revert to previous versions as necessary, allowing multiple contributors to merge their edits into a single source. These seemingly endless options offer great flexibility, but they can also make getting started in Git seem intimidating. That’s where GitHub Desktop comes in, a user-friendly, graphical interface that simplifies Git commands and makes collaboration easier than ever.

In this Grad Studio, we will cover:

  • How to set up Git on your computer
  • The Git workflow
  • How to initialize a Git repository and publish it online on GitHub
  • How to share your project with collaborators
  • How to do Git commands via GitHub Desktop

After this studio, you will be able to hit the ground running with your next collaborative coding project! Snacks will be provided.
