Getting started with your first few classes, labs, or sections sets the tone for the entire quarter. It is absolutely critical to make these impressions strong and positive. A highly effective advance strategy is to practice, or microteach, a brief part of your class and get feedback from a small group of graduate students in situations similar to yours.
If your department does not already provide microteaching opportunities, consider joining one of CTL's upcoming sessions. Groups of 4-6 new TAs will team up with experienced TAs and CTL staff to provide feedback and support.
