Mariatte Denman assists faculty and TAs in the humanities in their pedagogical pursuits. She holds a BA in Education and Literature and teaching credentials from the University of Berne in Switzerland and a Ph.D.in German with designated emphases in Critical Theory and Feminist Research and Theory from the University of California at Davis. Her professional experience includes three years as a post-doctoral IHUM teaching fellow and four years at Duke University as an Assistant Professor in the German Department. Her articles in New German Critique, German Quarterly and The Germanic Review explore the formation of cultural memory and national identity in contemporary German and Swiss culture. Two young daughters provide her and her husband Todd with creative educational experiences. In the remaining rare moments of peace, she enjoys reading academic and literary mystery novels.
