Centennial TA Awards 2008

The Centennial Teaching Assistant Awards consist of $500 prizes and certificates presented in a June awards ceremony (June 14th this year)—presided over by the Dean of H&S, the Dean of Engineering, and the Dean of Earth Sciences—to TAs with outstanding records as teaching assistants. Again this year, half of the H&S departments with teaching assistants are invited to nominate—depending on their size—one, two, or three of their TAs to receive the Centennial TA designation. The list below indicates which departments are eligible to nominate this year.

Art and Art History Human Biology Psychology
Chemistry Music Slavic Languages & Literature
Classics Philosophy Sociology
German Physics
History Political Science

We offer the following guidelines for selecting nominees. We encourage the widest participation of faculty and graduate students and the use of a broad range of information about teaching assistants' effectiveness and contributions. Faculty, peers, and on-line student evaluation of TAs should all be consulted. This is not meant to be a competition but rather a process that recognizes TAs with a record of outstanding contributions over time. If you have any questions about these awards, please email teachingcenter@stanford.edu.

Teaching assistants play a large and significant role in instruction within the School. In many cases, they are also future faculty members. We appreciate your participation in these programs to recognize and develop our future scholar/teachers.
